I've realised that there is quite literally zero reason for me to stay within some abstract pseudo-defined concepts of what my blog should look like, so I'm now writing this. Gone are the days of 1 blog post a month (September), and here come the days of hectic ramblings from a madwoman. So, as of the time of writing, the first batch of Beforan Ancestor designs have dropped at around 3:30 AM yesterday. And I have sure do have some thoughts on them!
THE RANKMAID
I'll be honest. I didn't think she was the most well thought-out at first, and was an unfortunate start that lowered my expectations eightfold. Aradia being a weaboo fujoshi is kinda funny, but it wasn't really shown much in her post-scratch character. Sure, Damara (expanding on her a bit since I didn't really talk about her at all before: it's really sad how she's an immigrant who was outcast by everyone and got cheated on by her ex-boyfriend who is the only person who took the time to understand her language, and as a troll on the lowest end of the haemospectrum, got tormented by the highest member of the fuchsia spectrum for 3 sweeps straight and had to spend all of eterenity continuing to be oucasted... :p. I'm glad she was comfortable with the humans though!) understand had these qualities... but... I dunno. Maybe add like archaeology shit to her lore thing. She's pretty though, she rocks that outfit. By the way, it doesn't help how Hussie keeps utilizing stereotypes for both of them. He couldn't even be bothered to get an actual Japanese person to write her dialogue, or, idk, give her actual dialogue that isn't just sex. Is there an actual reason she's a weaboo fujoshi?
THE MUCKRAKE
I fw this one. I totally see her doing that for a living or just for fun (considering how lax Beforan society is compared to Alternia due to the lack of Doc Scratch's influence). And the little Meowrails crumbs... It's purrfect. Not much more to say, really. She's cool :D
THE GARDENER
Fuck. Yes. I'm so glad they focused on her gardening/landscaping hobby. A loooooooot of people tend to forget that aspect of her and focus on her seamstressness... But I'm glad they shed light on this cool hooby of hers. She's super pretty and her outfit goes hard and she has roses on her head like woah it's like she likes roses or something. Weird. I love how she still has her future visions, and omfg. Best part for last. It was confirmed that Beta!Kanaya communicated with Alpha!Rose via their shared visions. They're literally so gay that every iteration of them loves the other. Urghhfghffhfh I've been seeing so much Beta!Kanya x Alpha!Rose art on my tl it just makes me wanna explode. Also Beforan Vriskan is totally fucking real you can't convince me otherwise. I can't wait to be old and gay and queer and hot
LAMPLADY SWANSONG
I absolutely adore how Beforan Aranea parallels Beforan Vriska and how Alternian Vriska parallels Alternian Aranea. They're both pretending to be each others' classes like what the flip dude. Vriska being a product of her circumstances is so interesting. (#LetsFuelVriscourseFor6MoreYears) Blue Bloods usually being healers on Beforus is so cool... We should kill Doc Scratch I think. And Vriska being blind due to a karmic chain of events... Vriska.... Terezi....... Urgh...... And her luck being so terrible on both planets... And her Sylph-like qualities kind of remaining on Alternia but in a more twisted way... Urhfghghfhfh

His design is kinda cool but why is somebody's OC smack dab in the middle of the Beforan Ancestor designs? Did Hussie screw up? Okay he's not that bad I'm just confused on where the hell his muscles went. That's like, half his thing. Setting an example as an Indigo Ahh Blud is cool and him like being like his aspect is also cool. And Meowrails. Eyup
SHEPHERD CONSTERN
I love her so much!! Her fit sucks so much ass but she makes it work so well somehow. She's so cute. The only reason she doesn't dress like this on Alternia is probably because she's not the one making the rules there. I hope every Feferi gets to wear whatever they want in the death dream world... I love how she's like the polar opposite of Her Imperious Condescension, having great worry and concern for those lower than her on the haemospectrum. Her Gl'bgolyb hair that trolls keep getting tangled in is awesome. She's the besttt I miss her. We need to kill Hussie.

Yayyyy Sollux. The fact his pose is just a reused version of the Psiioniic's is kinda funny. Also I like how androgynous his clothing choices are! Kinda suits him. I love the new Beforan lore and how harshly it contrasts against Alternia's. Sollux's job honestly seems like a nightmare but I'm glad he's happy I guess. He is manic as fuck though jfc. More "karmic chains of events"... Heh, I wonder what that is! (in an anime voice)

Eridan's non-binary!!! Already very alluded to in Pesterquest but I'm glad it's been... semi-canonized, I guess? I don't really know if these count as canon material. Fuckin hope so though. Anyway, I love how it's made very clear they're a product of their circumstances and horrible caste norms of Alternia, and that they're just out there living their best life, on the SURFACE, mind you, on Beforus. It's really cool! Also god damn was Cronus just like that for the hell of it???
THE IMPOSTOR
More lime-blood lore!!!! That's my caste!!!! Also oh my God Karkat probably should've like lied about being a Burgundy ahh blood or something cuz this was not the wisest decision. I guess it was the only way to fit into the friend group. This part feels kinda on-the-spot and first draft, but I fw it. Him being arrested for the "karmic chain of events" (ill talk about that more in the terezi part) totally makes sense but the government covering up his impostor-ness is really interesting. It serves as a way to show that Beforus wasn't perfect, and this, along with Porrim's Openbound dialogue (which I've noticed y'all haven't been reading apparently due to everyone calling Beforus a utopia), shows that this place isn't without serious flaws. Also god that fit is ugly what the hell. What is even the thought put into this. Who the hell wears sweaters in a coal mine. Why is he a twink.
SONGBIRD SOOTNOSE
I wish I was happier with this. I wish Hussie had the ability to draw different body types. Like what the fuck why are they all the same. Terezi is literally canonically fat why is she so skinny here. And Vibri said she made her wider in the concept art but that is not shown AT ALL here. Ughhhh. Anyway, her lore. Karkat allowed evil gas through cuz he's a bum who's rotting in jail while everyone else is having the time of their lives apparently, she couldn't alert the others to it cuz she lost her sense of smell similarly to Latula, and that triggered the karmic fuckage to basically everyone. She got hurt in the same way Alternian Vriska did, and uses the coin that hit her eye as an eyepatch so she could never forget her mistake. Kinda cool, I guess! Wish we coulda gotten more though. Terevriskan.... (hs yuri is like crack to me)

I haven't really touched on this much, regrettably, but yeah, Hussie is genuinely just a really shitty person. Self-shipped with their 13-year-old OC at 25, made super fucking racist comics in their 20s, made Meenah and Condy negative racist stereotypes against black people, never owned up to any of it, hides behind their "aracial" humans argument, stole money from a fundraiser, they genuinely just have a stick so far up their ass all the time. They're genuinely a good writer but their writing is made so much worse by all the shit they pull.
